Google has been integrating a lot of different voice commands into the Voice Search feature in Android devices (a lot of them being easier eggs) and the newest ones allow you to open up your camera or video camera. To trigger these features all you have to do is click on the little microphone or say “Ok Google, take a picture” or “Ok Google, record a video.”

While this new feature is as awesome as many of the other new voice search features, these still do not allow the phone to take real action. While you’re requesting your phone or tablet to take a photo or a video, all the voice action allows the phone to do is open up the desired application. While this does help in time efficiency getting to these features, it kind of defeats the purpose since you still have to then put focus on your device to do the desired action.

This update does not require an application update so it was either hidden in the last update or a server-side update. Either way, make sure to go try this new feature out!

P.S. One of the newest Easter Eggs can be found by vocally searching for “Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right.” Have fun!
