While it seems like most anticipated smartphones get leaked these day, some companies have been very good at keeping their devices out of the public eye while some get full hands-on videos. The “All New” HTC One (M8) is one of those devices that everyone has seen and it is still over 2 weeks away from its announcement. This morning’s leak is actually of the Verizon retail packaging for the One M8 which showed up on Ebay. While we know the gist of the phone, we now have confirmed specs and even the official name of the device.
While the photos attached to the listing for the $499.99 device are blurry, we are still able to see several vital details needed to confirm everything that we know about the All New HTC One. The first is that it won’t officially go buy the horrible “All New” statement that HTC has been running through their ads. Luckily it is just a marketing scheme and will be sold as the HTC One.
While the specs are nothing more than what we expected, it is good to have a confirmation of them. The M8 will be powered by a SnapDragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage with expandable microSD card storage, 5 inch 1080p display, UltraPixel dual rear-facing cameras, and a 5 MP front-facing camera which matches the rumors of higher quality “selfies.” In addition to all of that, the HTC One M8 will also have NFC, DNLA compatibility, and Bluetooth 4.0 built into it.
Now that you know what is going to be packed into the device, do you think you would make this your next smartphone? Is this even enough of a significant bump in specs over the original HTC One to upgrade to? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
It looks like there is now a Verizon dummy unit being sold on eBay as well. If you want to bid for the chance to own the outer shell of the HTC One M8, make sure to visit eBay here.
