If you recall, yesterday we wrote a piece on the mysterious “Powered by Android” badge that had popped up at boot on new Android devices, well today Geek.com has some new information on that scenario. According to Geek.com “Powered by Android” is now required at boot for Android devices as part of the Google Mobile Services agreement. Google even has a specific set of guidelines for how they want the badge displayed upon boot up supplying developers with do’s and do not’s as seen above.

Like we said in our piece about this yesterday, we think that this is Google’s attempt to unify Android’s name and get people to better understand which devices are running Android. All in all a great idea.
