If you moved over to the new Hangouts on your computer then you probably noticed that phone calls via Hangouts was gone. You were left with two options, text hangout or fully fledged video hangout. Now it’s back folks! The feature you all know and loved, voice calls! Users can now call people in the US or in Canada as of now, hopefully it will expand soon and allow users to call more parts of the world.

Don’t freak out if you check Hangouts and can’t do voice calling yet. First off it’s only for people using computers, no mobile yet, second off the feature has only been rolled out to some users. Google has promised that voice calling will be rolled out to all Hangouts users in the next couple of days. If you’re wondering if the feature has been rolled out to you yet head over to Hangouts in your Gmail or you Hangouts Chrome Extension and see if it’s there.
