Before it lands in stores in June it will head out to all the believers who backed it. Ouya is an open-source Android gaming console that promises to change the way we play games on the Android OS. This has gotten a lot of people interested including us here at Android Meter.

A few months ago developer kits went out to developers and programmers and now the rest of Ouya’s backers get their chance to get their hands on it. The startup has said that the console will officially begin shipping consoles to those people on March 28. Backers will receive an email with a delivery date and tracking number. The developers of Ouya says that it will take a few weeks for their console to get into the hands of it’s backers. When it comes to anyone who didn’t back the project Ouya says it’s official launch is still set for June and it will be available at major retailers like Best-Buy and GameStop.

The Ouya sounds like a cool and different idea but is it going to be a good one? Will the Ouya be worth picking up? Well it has some great people confirmed to be developing for it. Kim Swift, whom helped develop Portal and Left 4 Dead is apparently developing for it.

Well folks all we can do is sit back and see if the Ouya becomes a success or falls hard. Let us know in the comments if you originally backed the Ouya or if you intend to pick it up in June.
