If you were planning on purchasing a OnePlus One when it finally became available it might be a little harder than you thought. OnePlus announced this morning on their blog that the OnePlus One would be sold exclusively through an invite system, essentially you have to obtain an invite from OnePlus in order to purchase a OnePlus One device. Invites will be obtainable through friends, contests, and on the OnePlus One forum when the device hits its release date (April 23rd).

OnePlus’ reasoning behind the invite system is that they do not want somebody who wants the phone to have to wait as it sells out on its first day. They also want to eliminate the pre-order system so that you do not have to purchase a device months before it ships to you, with the invite system the device will be shipped days after receiving the invite and paying for the device.

Do you think OnePlus is making a smart decision with the invite system? Or is this going to make it even harder to obtain a OnePlus One? Let us know in the comments section below.
