Google themselves seems to want to talk about how many Nexus 7 tablets have been sold since their announcement at Google IO 2012 but their manufacturer, Asustek, seems to want to tell.  Asustek CFO David Chang has talked to the Wall Street Journal and has reported that the company was selling 500,000 units when the 7 first went on sale.  From there, Asus and Google sold 600,000-700,000 units for the last couple month unit “this latest month” when they sold close to a million units says Chang.

With these record sales, Google’s Nexus 7 is quickly becoming Android’s most successful tablet.  The only tablet that is ahead of the 7 is Amazon’s Kindle Fire that got several million sales just last December.

With the shopping season quickly approaching, sales of the Nexus 7 could skyrocket and push the tablet to the top of the leader board.  The 7 does have to compete with the Kindle Fire HD and the iPad Mini though so we will see how many sales Google can get this winter.
