Android KitKat Statue

Google just announced the next version of Android first by adding a new statue to their front lawn and then by officially announcing it on the Android website. Instead of Key Lime Pie, the next version of Android (4.4 not 5.0) will be KitKat.

Sundar Pichai, head of the Android project, took to Google Plus to announce the newest version of Google’s mobile operating system. In his post, he also announced that there have been over 1 billion Android device activations world-wide.

“…I’m excited to share that together we’ve now passed 1 Billion Android device activations…I was also thrilled to find this guy waiting to greet me on the front lawn — love the new #AndroidKitKat statue and can’t wait to release the next version of the platform that is as sweet as the candy bar that’s one of our team’s favorites:)”

In addition to the announcement of Android 4.4 KitKat, Google is giving away a chance to win Nexus 7s and Google Play credit with the purchase of special edition KitKats!
