Hello AndroidMeter community, my name is Joshua Neuman and I’m the new head writer for the gaming column of the website. I’m very excited to be here. With this being my first article in the column, I am going to start off with a little background about me and then some information on how the column will be organized. Let’s get started!

I started playing video games when I was young, probably like most people. I started playing games on a Nintendo 64 when I was 6 and moved on through other consoles and handhelds. Fast forward about a decade and I will have owned a PS3 and an Xbox 360 in that period of time. I still have the 360 by the way. It wasn’t until I got to these high end consoles that I actually felt I started “gaming”. I have always enjoyed Call of Duty or RPG’s like Skyrim and Oblivion, and I love playing games on a daily basis. While being a large advocate of console gaming, I also love PC gaming. I have been playing MMO’s such as World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic for 7 years. I just recently quit WoW and The Old Republic, but that was because I started school. Now, I play League of Legends as my main PC game while playing a little Guild Wars 2 every now and then. Needless to say, I will be covering gaming related news and information on both consoles and PC. And since we are an Android-focused news site, Android games and Android gaming as a whole will be covered.

Now, that’s enough about me, here’s what I really wanted all of you to get from this introductory article. I’m going to be organizing the column in a specific way, using three main “types” of articles. They are:

  • [Full Report]
  • [Quick Look]
  • [Review]

The Full Report “type” will be almost exactly as you can imagine it. It takes a news story or relevant information, and gives a full detailing on what is going on in the gaming world. The first full report in this column will probably be a coverage story on Sony and Playstation’s big announcement on the 20th of February, so keep an eye out. The Quick Look will be a small and concise article that will describe a particular piece of news or information and then provide a link to the parent website. For example, League of Legends (LoL) releases new champions regularly, a Quick Look article will talk about the new champion and then provide a link to LoL’s website for more specific information should you want it. And last, but not least, the Review article “type” will be a review on anything related to gaming. So, expect to see a Review article when a new console or relevant game comes out. As soon as we at AndroidMeter can get our hands on one, there will be a Review a few days afterwards.

This column will also have a heavy focus on YouTube video output. I expect to be able to put up at least 4-5 videos a week when I can get up and running. These videos will usually tie in to articles I post on the website, but there will definitely be other times when I will post videos about other things in the gaming world. So, keep an eye on the AndroidMeter YouTube channel here and look for videos about gaming in the coming weeks as I get setup and ready to go. Because I’m going to be putting out YouTube videos often, I will also become a part of most of the Google+ Hangouts that happen every Thursday.

Thanks for reading the first article in this new section of AndroidMeter and I cannot wait to get started!
