The wearable world got flipped on its head on Tuesday when Google announced Android Wear. This announcement showed just what Google envisioned a smart watch should be and the entire internet agree. Especially after Motorola announced the Moto 360, I would worry about my products if I was any other smart watch maker. One of these manufacturers was Pebble and they decided to look for ways to make their watch cheaper so that they could get as much business as possible before Android Wear devices start hitting the market.

Today Pebble has decided that this price reduction that they will offer customers is a Pebble Steel for only $229 instead of the regular $249 price tag. Of course this new price does not count for the whole package as it did before. This reduced Steel only comes with the leather watch band instead of coming with both the leather band and the steel band.

While the price cut is supposed to entice more people to look into purchasing the watch, I do not see this as being a real great price cut because you are losing out on a great part of the watch without a metal watch band. As of this moment the $229 leather only Pebble Steel is backordered while the $249 full package is unavailable.

Will this get you to consider buying a Pebble Steel? Let us know!
