We all have a favorite smartphone from last year, a phone that we used for a long time or were just impressed by because of some killer feature, but only one smartphone can win the Official GSMA Top Smartphone of the Year award. The title says it, that winner this year is the all-aluminum HTC One. This phone was definitely deserving of the award due to the fact that it revolutionized phone design and durability with its aluminum single piece body.

The HTC One received this award today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the same day that they are supposed to reveal their successor to the HTC One. This award is a big deal for HTC right now especially with their business slump they can’t seem to get out of. This award also breaks Samsung’s record two-year winning streak that the Galaxy S2 and S3 held.

We here at AndroidMeter congratulate HTC for the hard work they put into the phone and we are really happy to see them get some recognition for it.
