This morning the Android Developers Google+ page posted some updated design guidelines to follow when adding the cast icon into your app. The new guidelines are being used to increase readability and better support accessibility. The post also says that apps with limited colors or monochromatic (one color) icons are now better supported.

What does this mean for regular users? Essentially the cast icons in the apps that you use are going to look nicer and be easier to tell apart from each other. As for Android developers, if you are chomping at the bit to get these new cast icons to incorporate into your Android app the next update to the Media Router Support Library will include the new icons. For other developers the Google Cast Developers website provides the updated cast icons for you guys to use.
