This morning Google announced that is has officially acquired Waze, a GPS enabled social traffic app that updates routes and traffic in real-time based on a huge community of users. 50 million people use the popular app on Android alone, that’s not counting the iOS users.

Google is going to use Waze obviously to improve their Maps application. Google said today that they are excited to incorporate Waze traffic updates into their Maps application. They said specifically that they are hoping to “outsmart traffic together.”
