Today is a good day for people who like to tinker and also own a Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra or an Xperia Z1 because both of these devices have just received CyanogenMod 11 builds. The Xperia Z1 build is an actual nightly build and should be for the most part functional but as for the Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra its build is in the test phase which obviously means it will be less stable than a nightly build. Don’t fret if you’re a Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra user and want a stable version of CM 11 running on your device because the regular Xperia Z Ultra has been supported by CM for months and it shouldn’t take long for them to get it working smoothly on the GPE.

Now if you’re thinking about installing a custom ROM like CyanogenMod on your device for the first time we here at AndroidMeter strongly urge you to do a lot of reading up about how to do so with your specific device because even though things are easier than ever these days it’s also easy for things to go south. For the CyanogenMod 11 builds for the Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia Z1 follow the links below.
