Google might soon be getting involved in an unlikely market, home security. With their acquisition of Nest the next move they make looks to be buying up Dropcam according to sources very close to Google themselves. Dropcam is a camera that is known for streaming live video feed to smartphones as well as computers making it the perfect candidate for home security.
Next week Apple will supposedly be making its own “smart” technology public in relation to home automation. Apple will take the tarp off what they are calling their “smart home” platform, this will officially get Apple’s name into the home automation market. This will more than likely cause Google to reveal the purchase of Dropcam around the same time in order to steal some of Apple’s thunder.
