Earlier this month Google had a one day sale that allowed anyone in the United States to purchase Glass but now it looks like that was just a precursor to a larger availability. This morning, with no formal announcement, the Google Glass website opened up allowing anyone to purchase Glass.

Google Glass Accessories

There is no difference between this sale and the one day sale. When you buy Glass for $1500, you still get the mono ear bud, carrying case, USB cable, charger, and your choice of shades or your favorite frames. It looks like Google is ramping up production of the hardware because only days ago they were still claiming they had been sold out of every color of Glass. Google is still enforcing the 18 years or older and living in the United States rule.

Does this mean that Google is almost ready to bring Glass to the consumer market? Some of us on the AndroidMeter team were afraid that Google might just bring the product to developers and consumers at the $1500 to make it a proof of concept. Hopefully we will find out more at Google I/O in June about what they plan to do with the platform.

Edit: It looks like the link was a backdoor that was left open. Google has addressed this and has informed the media that they will be closing it shortly. Glass isn’t for sale to the consumer…yet.
