OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs many of you know one of the biggest tech events of the year took place a couple of days ago, the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Most people were astounded at all of the new features that Samsung through in their faces at the event but to some like myself and other tech junkies it was seen as a disappointment. Although they did create some useful features mostly pertaining to the camera app most of them were gimmick features that nobody is really going to use more than once. This is exactly what I was talking about in one of my recent posts about how the smartphone was reaching the end of it’s life, what could Samsung or any other manufacturer do next? At this point these new features that are being implemented into the latest Smartphones are just to differentiate themselves from other manufacturers and they are reaching the point where there is going to be nothing new to implement, but I digress.

Samsung has added many new features to the S4 software wise while leaving the hardware virtually the same. This caused many people to deem the S4 the Samsung Galaxy S3S obviously referring to Apple’s tendency to do so with every other phone they come out with. In a way people are right to deem the S4 the S4S because there really is nothing new here that is actually going to be useful to the average person besides an upgraded camera app. Sure Samsung also put a slightly bigger screen and battery into the phone while also bumping the camera up to 13MP’s but is that really enough to put them ahead of the new HTC One or to make you spend money to upgrade you S3 to an S4? The answer is like I said before, unless your a tech junkie then no. Your S3 is still a great phone and does everything you need it to do plus more.

Needless to say the S4 comes as a slight disappointment, while it is an impressive piece of hardware it definitely doesn’t stand out in the crowd and in today’s smartphone market that is the only thing that will get you ahead.
