If you’ve been following any Windows news lately then you would know that recently Google forced Microsoft to pull an app from their Windows Phone system. That app was a Youtube app designed by Microsoft that allowed users to watch videos completely ad free and also download videos in HD completely free. This didn’t fly with Google so they asked Microsoft to pull the app, Microsoft complied and now the two companies seem to have reached some sort of agreement because they are collaborating on the news Youtube app that will be released for Windows phone and of course it will include ads.

Lately there have been a lot of rumors floating around about the existence of Android 4.3 being near release and we have actually had some pretty solid evidence pop up here and there to support these rumors. But today we’ve got our most solid evidence yet, three images of 4.3 running on a Nexus 4 at the Thailand Mobile Expo taken by a member of the xda-developers.

Of the three shots that he took only one shows any real change appearance wise in the OS, the image of the camera app. It shows some new camera options as well as other options that have been moved around a bit. It’s definitely nothing significant and to be honest we didn’t expect there to be any significant changes in appearance in 4.3. What 4.3 will most likely be is a few changes here and there like in the camera app but mostly be changes in the background that fix bugs that were in 4.2.

Today the Chrome Beta app on Android was updated and included in that update is the new feature that automatically translates webpages into different languages. The feature works much like it does on the desktop version of Chrome where a webpage in a foreign language is recognized by the browser and then prompts the user to have it translated into a different language that the user can understand.

The new Translate feature works like this: when you open a webpage and it’s in a foreign language an translation bar will appear at the bottom of your screen asking if you would like Google to translate it into a language you understand.

As of now the feature is only available for the Chrome Beta app on Android which you can easily download right now if you are running Android 4.0 or higher. But we’re sure the feature will roll out into the regular stable Chrome app on Android within the next month or two.

Even though Google maps for desktop just received a significant overhaul and UI change and the mobile version will be soon, Google might attempt to buy up Waze. If Google were to do so it would block Facebook who has openly said they are trying to from buying it. Facebook is reportedly prepared to drop around 1 billion dollars on Waze and God knows both Facebook and Google have the money to spend that plus much more if a bidding war were to erupt between the two huge companies.

If you aren’t aware of what Waze is, it is a crowdsourced traffic map that millions of people use in their daily life’s on their commutes to and from work and on long trips. Needless to say the app is very useful and valuable for each company. For Google it would be a very nice addition to their shiny new Google maps experience, for Facebook on the other hand it would be a new social service that only Facebook would have to offer which would draw more users to using Facebook regularly.

Another company that is being rumored as looking into purchasing Waze is Apple based on the fact that they use some Waze data but we seriously doubt that Apple has any plans of the sort.

Today Daft Punk’s new album Random Access Memories has become available for download on the Google Play Store. This album has gotten more hype over the past month than I have ever seen an album get and rightfully so because in my opinion the album is great and full of life. Before the album was released today Daft Punk made their song, Get Lucky, available for download and it reached a record number of downloads and was the number one song in the UK for weeks.

If your interested in hearing this very unique new album by Daft Punk then follow the link below to download it or stream it if you bought into Google Play’s new unlimited music streaming plan.

Following Google I/O’s big Google+ announcements and the web browser version of Google+ getting another feed redesign, the Android app has been updated. What the update brings is bigger cover photos with a bigger aspect ration, support for strikethrough formatting, and last but not least some bug fixes and performance improvements. The update doesn’t quite bring the Android app’s feed up to par with the browser version with the inclusion of hashtags and what not but we’re sure the next update will do so.

Now I know you all wanna ask this question: does Google+ messenger finally get updated to Hangouts in this update? The answer is yes and no, as of now if you click the messenger icon in Google+ it will just provide you with a button that takes you into the Hangouts app but they are not integrated with eachother just yet unfortunately. And yes the app icon for Google+ messenger will still exist after you update to the latest version of Google+. Fret not everybody because not only will the next update probably bring the Android app up to par with the browser version but it will have to also integrate Hangouts seamlessly into the app so lets keep our fingers crossed and hope this next update is in the near future.

UPDATE:

It turns out that the hashtags have now appeared in the Google+ Android app bringing together Google+ for the browser and the Google+ Android app. Hngouts also now has it’s own icon within Google+ even though the messenger icon still exists within the app as well.

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch is behind us T-Mobile is supposedly looking to up their smartphone lineup with an LTE capable Samsung Galaxy S3. And according to TmoNews the phone will be launching on T-Mobile on June 5th only a couple weeks away. No other information is available at the moment besides that T-Mobile might replace it’s currents HSPA Galaxy S3 with the new LTE model.

This is a smart move on T-Mobile’s part and it also gives the S3 another chance to shine a little before the S4 completely takes it’s place.

When the newest Google Music update happened during Google I/O a couple days ago Nexus Q owners found out to their dismay that the two were no longer compatible. But fret not media lovers as a new Google branded Media player has been spotted passing through the FCC. It’s model number is H2G2-42 which is an obvious movie reference to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

It’s main function is just what you thought, being a media player, but it can also connect to a WiFi network and is powered through an AC connection. Is this Google’s attempt to correct the obviously dead Nexus Q?

As i’m sure many of you found out the hard way the new Google app Hangouts had a bit of a rocky release to say the least as many users were having problems downloading the app and tablet users couldn’t get the app at all. Luckily later yesterday the app received an update that I was hoping to be SMS support but turned out to be something different but still good. There were no official release notes stating this but as far as we can tell the update fixed a lot of compatibility issues with devices, mainly tablets like the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 that as of yesterday for most users were unsupported.

Now it seems though that Google has got the ball rolling and that they are aware of the compatibility issues that currently plague the app and have fixed most of them. Hopefully soon this will be completely fixed and then Google can focus on getting SMS support into the app and later on Google Voice support as well.

One of the Android topics talked about at I/O this year was Google’s redoing of the Google Talk app. The app received a complete UI overhaul and name change that essentially made the app an entirely new app called Hangouts.

The UI overhaul that the app received looks great as does the new green color scheme. Everything looks clean, green, and runs smooth. There is something significant missing from the new app though that has a good majority of people including myself very disappointed, SMS support. Yes that’s right folks, no SMS support, this is a huge letdown as this was supposed to be Google’s solution to having many messaging apps and cross-platform messaging. At this time all the app can do is what the old Google Talk app could do, instant message other people who have the app downloaded onto their phone as well. There is a little bit of good news though, the Hangouts app is available on the Apple App Store and for Chrome Store for your desktop which does slightly help with the cross-platform messaging problem but it still requires both users to have the app downloaded if they want to message eachother.

Download Link: Hangouts
